Shakira Joins Popular Russian Social Network VKontakte

MOSCOW, November 9 (RIA Novosti) Shakira has created an account on the popular Russian social network VKontakte, the Colombian-born pop star said in a Twitter message on Friday. "Shak now has an official profile on Russian social network VK, the message said. Shakira greeted her Russian fans on VKontakte, a Russian alternative to Facebook, with the words Hey guys - welcome to my new VK profile where I'll be posting all my latest news, photos, videos and updates. Stay tuned! Shakira is among the celebrities who topped the Forbes Social Networking Superstar list in August. The singer has 17.6 million fans on Twitter and 52.5 million "friends" on Facebook. Other foreign entertainers that have accounts on VKontakte include The Prodigy, Paul Van Dyk and Sophie Michelle Ellis-Bextor. One of Russia's most-popular social networks, VKontakte has more than 140 million accounts and averaged 40 million daily users in October. Seventy percent of its users live in Russia.

It suddenly looks so fresh. And now Shakira rocked it on the Latin Grammy Awards red carpet, done by one of my all time favorite stylists Andy Lecompte (Hello! Mane man to Madonna ! Nicole Richie ! Ali Larter , too!) To create the look, Lacompte prepped Sharkia's wet hair with a light leave-in conditioner with hold, then blow dried sections on a round brush to boost volume. He then added texture to hair with a spritz of sea-salt-based waving spray to keep the look modern -- not too stiff or retro. Leaving the front sections out, he rolled the rest of hair into a loose chignon, fastening with bobby pins.
